Does anyone have the faintest idea ...

... how Arum Palaestinum came to be known also as 'Solomon's Lily'?

  1. Here's my guess. 1. The lily is black or dark and comes from Israel. 2. The lily of the valley is dark but comely and is the beloved of Solomon (Song of Songs).

  2. Luke 12:27 - 'Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these'.

A speculation - that Jesus was actually looking at an Arum Palaestinum or something like it when he said this.
