Fans of the Thirty-nine Articles

While you're here, why not join my Facebook group, Fans of the Thirty-nine Articles?

"A group for members of the Church of England, and the worldwide Anglican Communion, who think the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion published in 1562 are a great summary of the core doctrines which reformed the Church of England then and which ought to be at the foundation of its teaching and preaching today."

  1. Excellent start from this Churchman's perspective (devoted 1662 BCP man). However, augmentation and amplification (with a few amendments) are warranted from the Heidelberg Catechism and those lovely Westminster Standards. (I get a few glares from both sides, but bear them bravely and unabashedly.)

    Bravo for the FB page.

  2. I got as far as…

Article VI: "Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation…"

…and then realised that I didn't need to read any further.

It's only fair to point out that my parish priest has suggested I try to be more appreciative of KJA and BCP. But I struggle to see these "ancient" texts, with their archaic language, as anything other than obstacles between God and his children.
