Anecdotes are fine but statistics should carry more weight - from 2002-3 to 2006-7 the total recorded number of crimes decreased by 1 million, or nearly 17% if you prefer. I think there is a lot to be gained by a church saying things are getting worse if we are paying less attention to it. Don't you?

The point of the link is that it is an insight into a sector of society with which most of us, thankfully, have little to do. It is also a challenge to our easy 'moralism'.
