Room for confusion?

Thanks to the wonders of the internet I've been able to establish exactly why, when I hear the intro to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama I expect to hear Warren Zevon's Werewolves of London. Surely they're basically the same tune?

Both are brilliant and would have to be on my 'all time favourites' list. But is there an opening verse anywhere in pop music to match this from the latter?
I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walkin through the streets of Soho in the rain.
He was lookin for the place called Lee Ho Fook's, gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein.

  1. Same riff, different politics!
The opening lines of "Werewolves .." were voted best ever opening in a Radio 2 poll a couple of years back.

  2. There's a new 1 deliberatly copying the rift too, about singing "Sweet home Alabama all night long" - but compared to the original and Werewolves - is rubbish.
