What a shame to see the Bishop of Croydon, Nick Baines, taking cheap shots at GAFCON on his Fulcrum-based Lambeth blog.
All this shows, sadly, is that the bishop is himself out of touch with great swathes of Anglican opinion, in this country and abroad.

John, Is "Bishop Nick" a liberal/revisionist? Here in the states when I hear comments like that, they usually come from a liberal or a revisionist, albeit the distinction these days is often difficult to make. It is the same line that we hear from liberals/revisionists/those sounding horribly like the 2008 liberals/revisionists. We are all one great happy family. The global South Anglicans who are boycotting Lambeth Conference are the trouble makers. And so.
ReplyDeletePerhaps in being an "open" evangelical, one becomes too open to those influences that work against authentic evangelicalism.

However, I do think one of the great divisions in the Church here is between those who basically think everything is OK, and those who fundamentally don't.
